Hong Kong Gems!

The next part of our trip consisted of us riding tons of subways and trollies all over Hong Kong to check off photo destinations! This blog post will mostly be a collection of the photos we took. We found a couple "instagram" hotspots that were very popular among other travelers. The first stop of the day was a collection of apartment building that were painted the color of the rainbow. When we showed up around 11am there were already around 150 people there taking photos! We couldn't believe how popular this spot was. I wanted to get a different perspective so I took out our drone and snapped some aerial photos. When there's 150 people taking the same photos you need to think outside the box!

After we finished with the rainbow apartments we headed to another popular hotspot with blue concrete rings. This site was quite bizarre to me as we were in a very quite part of Hong Kong. We had read that the rings were on top of the parking structure. We roamed around looking for it and eventually stumbled upon it. There were around 20 people at this site already!
Worth it!
After the blue rings we headed to Quarry Bay to one of the most densely populated parts of Hong Kong. The apartment buildings were so close together they all sort of morphed into one giant building! Here's a photo from inside the building's courtyard.
Population Density.
After Quarry Bay we were pretty spent for the day. We headed back and planned for our next days. We found a very cool reservoir that we thought would look great from the air. We took a taxi to the Sai Kung (about 30 minutes from the city) and then another taxi to the reservoir. This was one of the coolest stops of our trip for me! Massive 20' concrete "jacks" stacked along the ocean to create a seawall. There was a tiny sign that said "caution" so we climbed down onto the blocks. There were huge gaps between the concrete jacks so you had to be very careful to not slip!

After the reservoir we stopped in Sai Kung again to transfer taxis. We were starving and went to a crowed Thai food restaurant on the water. WOW! Probably the best thai food I've ever had! We had plans to go out to LKF that night but when we got home we all fell asleep within minutes! Here's another aerial photo from our apartment.
Downtown Mong Kok (everything feels "downtown" here!).
